The goal of the Wine and Hot Jazz Festival is to educate as well as entertain. We feel that the best way to perpetuate traditional jazz is by teaching our young how to play and become part of the world of classic jazz. Camp Heebie Jeebies was started 13 years ago on Seeley Lake in Montana. In 2007 the camp was moved to Lake Crescent in Washington which is one of the Olympic Peninsula’s pristine vacation spots. Camp Heebie Jeebies presents a week-long workshop in both traditional jazz and big band jazz. Over the past 12 years students have consistently given Camp Heebie Jeebies very high ratings. The curriculum is intense but allows for diverse abilities-motivating and inspiring, but not intimidating. The faculty is well qualified, the camp staff is capable and helpful, and the food is terrific. The camp is for all musicians aged 12 to 92. It is the goal of the Wine and Hot Jazz Bash to provide scholarships to the camp for area students. |
